Margaret Bott

Margaret Bott joined City ArtWorks’ as Executive Director in May 2015. Since the 1990s, she has led several non-profit organizations through transition eras. She was Marketing Director for Young Audiences of Houston, and Development Director for the Chinese Community Center, Asia Society Texas Center, Community Artists Collective and other non-profit organizations. A native of Houston, Margaret is an alumna of the University of Houston majoring in English and Business. She was an award-winning medical writer for the Galveston Daily News prior to being owner/director of Loft-on-Strand Gallery in Galveston. She attended many of David Brauer’s art history classes at the Glassell School of Art, as well as numerous workshops in leadership, business, and fundraising. She is married to artist HJ Bott, and they live in Houston with a white cat and 16 art Robotts.

Cindy Kapp

Cindy Kapp fuels her love for art and her love for children at City ArtWorks. Cindy has been an instructor for City ArtWorks for over 20 years, teaching in the Art After School programs, Summer Camps and many special events. Cindy accepted the position of Program Manager in the Spring of 2017, where she manages all the art programs provided by City ArtWorks including class curriculum, instructor training and development, and program growth. Cindy graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Advertising, and she worked in several advertising agencies before starting her own agency. She is an artist, writer and creative thinker. She is married to Ken Kapp, development lead with Every Village. They have two amazing adult children and a loyal dog, Jersee.

Melinda Herschkorn

Melinda Miles Herschkorn is a recent resident of Houston, graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Film Studies in 2013. Melinda served on the Parental Advisory Board of Dreams of Wilmington, NC for eight years, where she headed committees and wrote grants for semi-annual fundraisers for the organization. She has been published twice in UNCW’s Film Matters Magazine and she is skilled in office management and video editing. In addition to being an avid film fan, Melinda has a passion for theater, having acted in many Community Theater productions in Wilmington, including Seussical the Musical and The Sound of Music.
Oliver Penn

Oliver Penn is a graduate of Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated with a B.S. in Marketing and minored in Music. He has professional experience in branding, market research, and promotional strategy. While in college he played drums in the jazz, funk, and winds ensembles, and traveled the country as the drummer for the Pep Band. Having visited art museums across the globe and developing an art collection of his own, his love for the arts continues to grow. Oliver plays shows around Houston as a guitarist and singer.
