Each spring and fall, City ArtWorks offers children's studio art classes at our Wirt and Westview location. Based on the Art After School curriculum, each class explores an art movement or artist and applies that information in hands-on art-making, which includes a variety of visual arts techniques and mediums, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, and more. Click here to request the most up to date studio class schedule.

Every summer, City ArtWorks offers week-long studio art camps that include sculpture, clay, printmaking, drawing, painting, and other visual art mediums. For children ages 5 to 15, Summer Art Camp encourages creative problem solving, helps develop critical thinking skills, and exposes children to visual arts concepts and history. But most of all, City ArtWorks Summer Art Camp is fun! This summer, camp is offered for 10 weeks, from June 7 through August 20, 2009. Children can sign up for a week, multiple weeks, or multiple class offerings. City ArtWorks offers discounts for multiple classes and siblings (after first class or sibling.) Scholarships are also available based on financial need.
City ArtWorks is also offering this summer a Logo Design Contest for students sponsored by The Houston Arts Society. The grand prize is one free week of summer art camp. If interested, click here for more details about this contest.

Arts in Medicine at Texas Children's Cancer Center - Working in concert with the Arts in Medicine program at Texas Children's Cancer Center, City ArtWorks offers clinic and bedside art instruction for young patients in the Cancer, Hematology, and Bone Marrow Transplant units. It recently expanded its art therapy to Texas Children's Hospital's Renal Ward. These children and their families face serious illness and health issues but find the opportunity to express them through art both exciting and therapeutic. This program began with seed money from long time supporter, Mrs. Sybil Roos, and its growth is made possible by a generous grant from The Children's Fund, Inc. of Houston.
Texas Inter-Faith

Thanks to grants from the Simmons Foundation, Spindletop Charities, Inc., and Texas Inter-faith Housing, these children will will have a chance to express themselves through their art in a safe and structured environment.
Inner City ArtReach
