Art After School

Art After School™

Art After School™ is the signature program of City ArtWorks that began in 1982. This curriculum-based program is held after school at local public, private, and charter schools and community centers and provides children with art instruction and a hands-on art experience.

Classes are taught by trained art instructors who use specially developed lessons for children. Each semester, a new curriculum highlights the work of a particular artist or art period. Art is fun and our classes are designed to introduce students to art, encourage them to experiment and inspire them to develop their creativity.

City ArtWorks offers two semesters of Art After School™ each year – fall semester and spring semester – which coincide with the school’s academic calendar. Sessions are 9 weeks and during a session classes meet once a week for 60 – 90 minutes. Each session covers a breadth of materials and techniques including drawing, painting, collage, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and more!

Class Times and Fees

Students pay a set tuition for a semester of instruction. Tuition includes all supplies, instruction and any facility fees. Students are not required to bring anything additional with them when attending class. However, we suggest students bring an over-sized shirt or smock to protect their clothing.

Those who qualify for a scholarship receive a reduced rate. To qualify for a scholarship, the student must be enrolled in the National School Lunch Program, Lonestar, Food Stamps or CHIPS. Scholarships are limited to two per family.
